Reigniting your passion for giving

When’s the last time you requested a grant through your donor-advised fund? It’s easy to get preoccupied with the day-to-day and forget to give or to lose the motivation to make it a part of your routine. At CCF, a key way we seek inspiration is through His Word. We want to share a few of our favorite verses with you that encourage us in our work and daily walk with Him!

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” – Hebrews 13:16

Everything we have belongs to God. We are so richly blessed and entrusted to be good stewards of his gifts! One Biblical way to honor Him and steward his gifts is by serving others.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on Earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:19-21

All our earthly possessions are temporary – what matters is our eternal salvation! There’s no money in the heavenly Kingdom. Let’s spend our time on Earth spreading the good news and making disciples so we can store up our treasures in Heaven.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2

As Christians, we’re called to love one another as God loves us. We can demonstrate this love by caring for our neighbors and lending a hand when someone is in need.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

It’s so important, we’ll repeat it: God loves a cheerful giver. When you give, make sure your heart is in the right place. This means evaluating your reasons for and feelings surrounding giving. Are you giving because you feel called to do so? Or are you giving begrudgingly? God can tell the difference! Go to Him in prayer and contemplation, asking for guidance and wisdom in stewarding your gifts.

At CCF, we’ll never tell you where to give, but we can talk through your various options. Give us a call at 901-682-6201 to discuss.
