Preparing your heart for seasonal giving

November is right around the corner, which means Thanksgiving is almost here! While we’re called to give thanks regularly – ”Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – this time of year is associated with giving back, volunteering and kindness to others.

As we enter this season of thankfulness, we want to help you prepare your heart and mind for seasonal giving and other contributions.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

This verse summarizes everything we have to be thankful for. God sent His only Son to die a gruesome death on a cross for our sins so that, one day, we may join Him in Heaven. What a remarkable gift to receive! We’ll never be able to repay this, but we can strive to live more like Him every day, spread His Word and make disciples during our time on Earth. Through our words, thoughts and actions, we can show our thanks for His sacrifice daily.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6

What a joy to know that God is always there. No matter the circumstances, He will always be by your side to guide you. Whenever life gets to you, call out His name in prayer. He will ease your anxieties and worries. Invite Him into your life and notice the prayers He’ll answer!

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25

As we gather to give thanks and celebrate, let us draw on our community to inspire each other! Your brothers and sisters in Christ are there to encourage and motivate while working toward the greater good of spreading God’s word.

This time of year, it’s important to remember the reason for the season – to give thanks for all our blessings and celebrate the birth of the One who gifted us everlasting life. Keep this in mind as you consider gifting from your donor-advisor fund – how can you make a difference?
